Like any medical treatment, radiation therapy requires administrative coordination, which can cause uncertainty for patients and their families.
In addition to the CNS, several Luxembourg institutions offer various services and assistance to help you better cope with this difficult time. Our medical and administrative teams are also available to advise you and answer any questions you may have in order to simplify the formalities.
COVERAGE OF THE COSTS OF RADIATION THERAPY
To be eligible for CFB benefits, you must be insured by a health insurance fund in the European Union, the EEA, or Switzerland.
I am insured with the Caisse Nationale de Santé (CNS)
Treatment costs are covered on a pay-first, pay-later basis. This means that you pay the bills for treatment and consultations first and are then reimbursed by the CNS. All you need to do when you are admitted is present your social security card.
I am insured with a health insurance fund in the European Union, the EEA, or Switzerland
Contact your attending physician so that they can request a Form S2. This form allows a person insured in one European Union country to prove that they are entitled to planned medical treatment in another European
Treatment can begin upon receipt of this form or after advance payment of the bill.
This form will be requested upon admission.
I am insured by a health insurance provider outside the European Union
In this case, the insured person must pay the costs in full and apply for reimbursement from their health insurance provider in their country.
TRANSPORTATION COSTS
Radiotherapy is a repeated medical treatment that requires a number of trips to and from the CFB. The CNS covers the costs of recurring transportation such as taxis, ambulances, and private transportation in accordance with the insured person's state of health.
For more information, please contact the CNS or download the forms for cost coverage directly from their website.
If you have any questions, please contact our secretaries, who will explain the necessary steps to you.
MEDICAL EXPENSES
Most medical devices and their reimbursement rates are listed in the CNS statutes.
The file B1 reprend les dispositifs médicaux de « petite » envergure (ex pansements spéciaux, produits pour l’incontinence urinaire etc…)
The file B5 covers medical foods.
Care aids (hydraulic beds, wheelchairs, anti-decubitus mattresses, etc.) can be borrowed free of charge from the Service Moyens Accessoire (SMA). The rental costs are covered by the CNS. The aids will be delivered to your home.
Full or partial coverage (on medical prescription) only applies to products or devices listed in the CNS files.
TAXES
Non-reimbursable costs related to your illness or certain related costs (domestic help, childcare) are considered extraordinary expenses and are therefore tax deductible. For more information, please contact the tax authorities.
FAMILY ASSISTANCE
For more information, please contact these organizations.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Le cancer peut impacter la situation financière de certains patients et devenir une source d’inquiétude supplémentaire; la Foundation Cancer can provide financial support to applicants who find themselves in a difficult situation due to their illness. Do not hesitate to contact them to discuss the possibilities of financial support.
De même, si vous recevez une facture médicale dépassant vos moyens financiers et que vous vous trouvez temporairement dans une situation précaire, la CNS peut, sous certaines conditions, régler la facture directement au prestataire. N’hésitez pas à la contacter pour toute question.
