Living better with cancer
Talk to us!
Our healthcare teams are here to listen to you and your loved ones throughout your treatment.
Please do not hesitate to ask them questions or share your fears and pain, whether physical or emotional.
If you wish, volunteers from Fondation Cancer can also accompany you during your treatment. A discussion area in the radiotherapy waiting room allows you to talk in complete confidentiality or find out about the services offered by Fondation Cancer (support groups, sports groups, patient associations, etc.).
While dialogue with healthcare professionals is essential, talking to other patients, whether they are undergoing treatment or have been cured, and sharing similar life experiences can be reassuring, motivating, and liberating.

Managing side effects
There are two types of side effects: "early" side effects, which are very common and expected, occurring during radiotherapy and up to 3-6 months afterward, and "late" side effects, which occur more than 6 months after the end of treatment; however, the latter affect only a minority of patients.
If you experience any discomfort during or after treatment, talk to your doctor as soon as possible. They will support you during your weekly follow-up appointments and, in collaboration with the entire medical team, will put in place measures tailored to YOUR situation.
Managing side effects is one of our priorities. Centre François Baclesse is a pioneer in this field in Europe, with several achievements to its name: radiation and treatment techniques for sequelae, supportive care, specialized consultations on unusual toxicity, joint research and development projects for a radiosensitivity test, training for our doctors in post-oncological restorative medicine, and training for general practitioners on the toxicity of radiotherapy, etc.
Every patient is unique, and so is their journey through illness. That is why we recommend you to address all your questions and concerns to your healthcare providers; they will be able to provide you with personalized answers.
Your pain
Pain management is an integral part of your treatment at CFB. Pain is experienced differently by each patient, depending on their individual history and the treatment plan implemented.
YOUR pain will therefore be assessed and monitored throughout your treatment.
If you experience any pain, please do not hesitate to talk to our team so that we can set up medication or supportive care.
Support care and accompaniement
That is why we offer our patients the opportunity to benefit from a range of proven supportive care options designed to improve their physical, emotional, and social quality of life.
