A caregiver is someone who supports a patient and helps them with everyday tasks, but also sometimes with medical and administrative matters.
You are supporting a loved one, parent, sibling, child, or friend who is losing their independence, and this may seem normal to you. However, this new role can be stressful, tiring, and confusing.
Caregivers are not always aware of either the need or their right to take care of themselves and seek professional support. This can lead to physical and psychological exhaustion.
At Centre François Baclesse, we always offer our patients' loved ones a meeting with a psychologist at the start of treatment. If you feel the need, you can continue to receive support throughout your loved one's treatment.
However, we would like to remind you that no medical information will be given to relatives without the patient's permission. Thank you for your understanding.
